- Highlight: unique hike to old stacked cars
- limited parking
The Cat Stair Canyon hike is fun as you hike through a wash to piles of stacked cars! When the highway was sinking, the locals stacked old cars to hold it up. Obviously, it did not hold up over time. This makes for a fun and interesting destination.
What to expect at the trailhead
The parking is a small pullout off of hwy 89. Parking is severely limited with only enough space for 3 or 4 cars. There are no amenities.
What to expect along the trail
You can expect a lightly trafficked trail that is only about .5 mile long. At the parking lot is a marker sign. Follow the trail down past the sign.
You will continue straight into a wash that will make a 180 degree turn to the east (left).
Follow down the wash for about 10 minutes until you come to a drainage pipe. The stacked cars are just a few feet past the drainage pipe.
Below is a map of the entire trail.
What to do
The area is fun to look at the cars and climb around the boulders!
