Play in Davis

The final stop on our 12 day Mighty Utah Vacation was Davis county.  It can feel overwhelming with 7 amusement centers, 20 hotels, 400 restraunts, and 10 golf courses! Not to mention the hiking trails that could keep you busy for years. No wonder their motto is, “Play in Davis”! There is just so much to do for play.

We will share our experience with two of the amusement centers and one restaurant that we did while visiting for the Mighty Utah Vacation. Be sure to watch for future posts on Antelope Island State Park and the various hikes in the area.

Seaquest Aquarium

Seaquest Utah is more than just an aquarium. It is an interactive aquarium! Meaning you get to actually touch, feed, and hold the animals! Being able to interact with the animals is what makes this truly a unique and worthwhile experience.

The aquarium has everything from Sharks and Eels to chickens and goats to snakes and Tarantulas. With roughly 1200 animals from 300 different species you are sure to see one you love and one you may not love so much (in my case that would be snakes)!

In addition to the entrance fee, you must purchase tokens in order to participate in some of the interactions and to be able to feed the animals. It is well worth it to purchase tokens in order to be able to interact with the animals. The interactions are what makes the aquarium so special. Lagoon Amusement Park

Child of Utah Mountain Mama family riding horse on carousel at Lagoon Amusement Park.

We weren’t really sure what to expect from Lagoon with two young children. Especially since our children are a little more timid than the average child. Lagoon exceeded all expectations and was the favorite part of the Mighty Utah Vacation for our 6 year old. He was begging to go back as we were leaving the park.

Lagoon has something for everyone. The thrill seekers will enjoy roller coasters like Cannibal. While your young children will enjoy getting splashed on OdySea. Be sure and take some time in Pioneer village where you can escape the pavement and enjoy the feel of the village.

Pack your swim suit and spend some time at Lagoon A Beach. Slide down the water slides, have the kids hop on a swing in the water, and be lazy in the lazy river.

Lagoon A Beach Tip

Be sure and keep your shoes on until you get near the water. The cement gets excruciatingly hot and you will burn your feet.

Where to Eat

With 400 restaurants it can be overwhelming to know where the good stuff is. Here we write about a new Greek place we tried while on this trip along with some other places we would recommend.

Santorini’s Greek Grill- Fresh and fast Greek food! We are always commenting on how we wish there were more Greek places to eat that are like this. The servings are huge! They don’t just give you a little bit of each item you want in your pita. They give you a healthy portion of the ingredients that you ask for. We would suggest asking for smaller portions or to not get as many ingredients. It can be a little overwhelming to eat so much. Located at Station Park in Farmington.

Sills Cafe- The best breakfast in Davis county! You get so much food for such a stellar price. Get the mini breakfast with a scone! It should be renamed because it really isn’t so mini. Located in Layton.

Vito’s- Think Philly Cheesesteak! What we love about Vito’s is how fresh it is. The cheesesteaks aren’t greasy like so many cheesesteaks you get. It is important to know that Vito’s only accepts cash. Located in Bountiful.

Chubby’s- They have a new location in Bountiful! Amazing burgers and beer battered fries. What we love so much is that their food is so flavorful and ingredients are higher quality.

There really are so many more great places. It would just be too difficult to name them all here.
